Literature
What the literature describes
MOTS-c (Mitochondrial Open Reading frame of the Twelve S rRNA-c) is a 16-amino-acid peptide encoded by mitochondrial 12S ribosomal RNA. Studies (PMID 25738459, PMID 27216708) describe activation of the AMPK pathway independent of the AMP/ATP ratio, leading to increased muscle glucose uptake, stimulation of fatty acid β-oxidation, and inhibition of hepatic lipogenesis. At the hormonal level, the studies observe improved insulin sensitivity, reduced hyperglycemia induced by a high-calorie diet, and modulation of the folate-methionine axis via the AICAR pathway. Nuclear translocation of MOTS-c under metabolic stress conditions regulates the expression of antioxidant response genes. These data come from the scientific literature and are provided strictly for informational purposes in a research context. This product is not intended for veterinary, diagnostic or therapeutic use and is not recommended for any use outside a scientific, professional and research setting. [1][2][3]

Questions
Frequently asked questions
What does a vial of MOTS-c contain?
Each vial contains lyophilised MOTS-c, available in 10 mg. Purity ≥ 99.0% (HPLC), tested by an independent laboratory.
How should MOTS-c be stored?
Lyophilized: refrigerated (2–8 °C) from receipt, protected from light, or at −20 °C for long-term storage; it tolerates a few days of shipping at room temperature with no expected degradation. Reconstituted: refrigerated (2–8 °C).
How is MOTS-c reconstituted in the laboratory?
Sterile bacteriostatic water. The site's dilution calculator helps prepare the desired concentration.
Is MOTS-c intended for human use?
No. MOTS-c is a research reagent (RUO) intended exclusively for in vitro laboratory research. It is not intended for human or veterinary use, nor for diagnosing, preventing or treating any disease.
